When I was younger, I despised texts about rewards from the Lord because, perhaps, my main motivation to keep the Lord's commands was the fear of hell.
We read in Psalm 119:
161 Influential people have persecuted me for no reason,
but it is only your words that fill my heart with terror.
Here, the psalmist pays attention to the curses that come from not obeying the Lord. He fears them, more than influential people who persecutes him.
However, he focus on the blessings of obeying the Lord too as in:
162 I find joy in your promise
like someone who finds a priceless treasure.
Our loving Father uses his creation with curses and blessings to put us in his way.
